This thought has been going around in my head for quite some time now. When you are looking for information on the net, whether it’s just to further your knowledge or you’re doing research for an article. Do you base your entire research on what you find on Wikipedia, you don’t bother looking at other sources?

We all know that you can sign up for a wikipedia account and make any edits that you like and may not be entirely accurate or true, this is why I don’t rely solely on Wikipedia, sure there are some great nuggets of information on there that are 100% accurate/true.

I also tend to look at the written word as well, I’ll go down to my local library, also gives you a chance to get away from the computer screen for a while.

So do you trust Wikipedia 100%?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however over the years I have started to think that some people have a strange view of the world and how they perceive other people.

For example, because I have said that someone doesn’t speak for me, I’m branded as being negative. So getting straight to the point and being brutally honest when it’s called for is a sign of negativity?

Sorry I think not. More people need to hear the truth and if you don’t beat around the bush there is no room for mis-communication.

I’ve picked my spot on the moon, time to save for a trip on Richard Branson’s Spaceship One.

Another week begins. I cannot believe that this is the last week of August already, where has this year gone?

You can tell were coming into the last 4 weeks of summer, the weather is turning colder, the leaves are starting to turn golden brown and the nettles are starting to die off. That’ll be good for my hobby, I won’t get stung as often.

Got a few things to do today, getting a birthday card for my dad, a bottle of milk, the usual stuff.

Then I’ll be chilling out and finishing off the book I brought on Saturday.

So what are you plans for today or the week ahead?

Came across this cool new way to share contact info with other people thanks to a video interview with the creator posted over at “Building 43″.

http://www.building43.com/videos/2009/08/19/a-new-kind-of-business-card-touch-me/

Simply you buy one of these pokens from one of their retail partners, register for an account over at: http://www.doyoupoken.com/PokenWeb/corporate/welcome.jsf

Then “hi-five” them with your friends’ pokens and information is shared.

Then plug it into a spare usb slot and download the contact information you’ve gathered.

How difficult is it for some people to add three or four little words to their posts on an internet forum/social media platform?

“In my opinion or “in my humble opinion” how difficult is that? It can alter my perception of what you are saying.

If I want you to speak on my behalf then I will let you know. It really gets on my nerves when someone gets up and says “I speak for everyone…”

If that’s the case where was I when you sought out my permission for you to speak on my behalf? Oh I know, you didn’t come to me and seek out my permission.

If you want my permission to speak on my behalf, email me:

richard.arblaster@gmail.com

wizzardsblog@googlemail.com

If you want to hear my voice, request my mobile number in your email. Or if you want to meet me face to face, if you’re nearby in the UK, then lets arrange a time and place to talk.

Then I’ll give you something to speak about on my behalf, or I’ll just come along and you can get it straight from the horses mouth.

I look forward to your emails.

Do you run your forum with your members in mind, or do you run your forum with just you in mind? Have you ever stopped to think why your members are leaving your forum in droves?

Members like to feel that they’re part of the forum, they like to have a say in the way a forum is shaped for the future.

Just because you don’t like something doesn’t automatically mean that your members don’t like it.

This I feel is why many forums fail in the first 3 months of being created, the admin adds bells and whistles and content that they like without a second thought for what their members might like.

If you want the bells and whistles, then enhance the admin control panel to make your life easier.

Put out polls and suggestions to your members to gauge whether they are going to like a feature you’re considering implementing.

Sometimes your members may want something that could be detrimental to the running of the forum. Don’t bullshit them, give them the truth behind why you cannot implement a feature that they want. Or come to some kind of compromise.

Don’t come out with the attitude “it’s my frigging forum, I can do what the hell I like.” Sure you can, don’t expect your members to come back.

Have your members in mind in whatever you do or plan to do to your forum. That way members should stay loyal to you, through the highs and lows.

Has anyone else been watching this on BBC1 about nine hopefuls wanting to join the BBC’s Natural History Unit as wildlife film-maker?

Did you watch the latest episode, with the starving hippos?

Were you like me screaming at the screen because both teams had failed to uncover the real story behind why the hippos were starving?

Good job the one team cottoned on late into the 2 days of filming.

The one team wanted a “fluffy bunny” story, despite that not being the point, the film they were supposed to making was about the failed rains in the area, so no grass was growing so the hippos were starving.

The worst thing was the one team had experience in zoo-ology!!

I’m testing the autopost feature. You may get duplicate tweets, as this should automatically post to my “Wizzard’s Blog” blog site, which in turn twitterfeed feeds out to twitter.

If it gets annoying virtually hit me with a baseball bat and I’ll investigate :)

Had a bit of a busy day yesterday, went for a job interview, will hear back soon how it went. I can’t wait to start working again, it’ll mean I’ll be able to save for a laptop with a webcam and will able to start videoblogging.

I was pleased to hear that Johnny Herbert ex F1 driver and mid engine racer has joined Team Dynamics. His first race will be at Silverstone in 2 weeks time and will take part in all of the remaining rounds until the end of the season.

He’ll be replacing James Thompson who has racing committments elsewhere.

Johnny is going to have to get used to the bumping and rubbing that goes on. He should be fine.
