No it isn’t the next chapter of a book I’m reading, it’s the next chapter in my life. I’m starting to make plans for the future that will lead to me working for myself.

The job I have at the moment has been a blessing, even though it is temporary and fingers crossed it lasts into the new year and beyond, so I can start building the foundations instead of just planning all of the time, then only for the rug to be pulled from underneath me.

I already have registered 2 domain names for this new project of mine, lets say I think I’m heading into the lions den with this one, so I’m going to have to work hard to make my self stand out and to be heard.

… when I’m unemployed and don’t actually have a proper business of my own?

Crikey now I’ve outed myself.

The reason why I comment is, as an employee of many businesses, both as a permanent employee and temporary member of staff since I left school at the tender age of 16, whilst attempting to keep my head down and not stick out like a sore thumb.

You get to learn quite a lot of things, mostly common sense things, you think to yourself “why the hell are they doing it like that? Why not do it this way, it would be far more simpler and far more cost effective.”

As with any company as I alluded to in the first paragraph, you don’t say anything for fear of having ideas above your station and rocking the boat.

I’m not an expert, far from it, I’m an information sponge, when I was younger I used to watch the stock market like a hawk. I’m obsessed with money, even though I’m too lazy to go out and market myself to get the money.

I used to love watching “The Apprentice” when it first started. I just cannot bring myself to watch the last 3 series.

For people who claim they are so smart and the best at what they do, some of the mistakes are cringeworthy, basic errors.

They cannot have a discussion about a task without full on screaming and shouting fits and dismissing ideas with a wave of the hand. They should learn to put their “one up manship, win at all costs” attitude to one side and learn that they can only win as a team if they actually act as if they’re part of a team.

So the bottom line is why I comment is, I’m a nosey bugger, interested in what everyone else is doing, obsessed with figures and money.

Do we have such a concept in the UK? You basically hire a single desk in an office which is your desk for however long you want it.

I think it’s a great idea, if such a concept does exist here, let me know in the comments below.

Hmm interesting. They did have a brief foray into this market directly themselves and they pulled out again. So what’s going to be different this time?

I suppose having an infrastructure in place already is a massive help. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

As the title says this is the kind of reality TV I like.  According to digitalspy Five are commisioning a series called “Business Inspector”. It will use the same premise as “Hotel Inspector”, where an expert will go in and try to turn the business around.

I have been fascinated by how businesses are run from an early age. It’s great to bring in an outsider, they can see with fresh eyes where businesses are going wrong and hopefully save them from financial ruin.

Okay so we’re out of recession. 0.1% growth in the last quarter of 2009 still isn’t much to celebrate though? With that much growth it can be easy to start slipping back.

We’re in a real mess folks, it’s going to take at least a decade to sort this whole mess out. Who ever is in power after the next election they’ve got a tough job on their hands.

I’ll be a lot happier when I’ve got a job, then I can tell you if life is getting any easier.

… I may be fat, losing my hair, ageing a little. However I don’t have a problem getting it up, it may be average in size, but hey I’m happy with it.

So no I don’t need your cheap viagra or an extension or two or three.  Please move on, my door will always stay locked to you.

I was reading an article in yesterday’s “Mail On Sunday” about delays in VAT registration affecting startups.

So my question to the tax experts is:

You are approaching the turnover threshold, you have put your VAT registration application in plenty of time, but you know that you are going to pass the threshold before your application is looked at because of the backlog.

What can you do in the meantime?

I’m taking a break from my normal routine, to catch up on all the information that has flooded into my Google Reader, I have about 7 days worth of information to consume. Also adding new feeds to my reader.

Mixed in between all of that will be trips out into the real world to get some much needed fresh air and to feed the beast within.

Coupled with me devising ways of advertising my online store for free in the short term and paid for advertising in the medium and long term.
