Yes The News of The World has been consigned to the dustbin of history, with its last ever edition being printed on Sunday 10th July 2011. I’m putting the full date in so people can look back in many years time.

There are many cynics out there that say News Corp will resurrect it with a completely different name. The optomist in me says they wont.

It is a shame that Rebekah Brooks hasn’t done the decent thing and tendered her resignation, instead she’s heading up the investigation into the phone hacking scandal, talk about a conflict of interest.

David Cameron put your friendship with her to one side and do what is right for the country you represent and push for her resignation. If your friendship with her is strong, then it will remain intact.

Also block Rupert Murdoch’s takeover bid of BSkyB now that it’s alleged that George Osborne’s phone may have also been hacked. It’s about time big corporations were made to toe the line and taught a harsh lesson.

I know bugger all about wind power, this is not what this post is really about.

I came across a tweet from @brumguvnor (I hope he doesn’t mind me mentioning him), pointing to an article written by George Monbiot for the guardian reprinted on his own site.

Here is a link to the article:

I like the idea of windpower in the face of the lack of fossil fuels which unfortunately are going to run out in my lifetime.

He basically says that MPs should do some research before opening their mouths.

MPs don’t have to do any research, eventually everyone will believe what they say whether they’re factually correct or not. Then those who call them out on their inaccuracies will be labeled as bashing the MPs citing you don’t like MP ‘x’ because he supports party ‘y’.

So no research required the MPs are always right even in the face of evidence saying they’re wrong.

I feel sorry for most of the general public that will believe everything they’re told.

Anyone else watch BBC’s “Panorama” program last night? Looking into the PAYE tax blunders where people have overpaid or underpaid tax.

It made very interesting watching.

I’m just going to get straight to point and forget about this concession that the HMRC can use to write off any tax owed. They should just write off the tax that everyone owes when this blunder came to light, it’s going to be a multi-million pound hit, but who’s fault is it?

Why should the tax payer foot the bill for HMRC’s blunder?

There are millions of backlogged cases, just throw them in the bin and start from scratch and come up with a new system to collect taxes.

HMRC are only going to compound the problem by continually looking backwards to these cases, look forward and get the mess sorted, deal with the cases that are currently on your desks and forget the rest.

Did I ever mention that I wasn’t going to talk politics on this blog?

Well I put my Electoral Registration form in today, 1 day before the deadline. This will be the first time I’ll put an X on a ballot paper in a long time. Guess who I won’t be voting for?
