I seem to have been falling behind on many things  lately, I could say it was me being extremely busy, but on this occasion a bit of laziness is starting to creep in. It’s a new week time to re-focus.

I was told many years ago that having computers would create a paperless office.  Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact we seem to have even more paper lying around the place than we did before the advent of the desktop computer. We humans are still distrusting of that grey box sitting at the corner of our desks, printing off every email and important document, just incase the hard drive sneezes and looses every single document you’ve been working on since the year dot.

I always laugh now when a young kid mentions the words “paperless office”. Paper in one form or another will be around for many years to come. Even when the trees are long gone, the boffins will come up with synthetic paper like they did with synthetic fibres many moons ago.

What do you prefer, public transport or driving?

Just lately I prefer to catch the train, don’t get me wrong I love driving. It’s just that I find sitting on a train with my eyes closed very relaxing, it puts you in the right frame of mind for the day ahead.

I would never dream of driving into the middle of Birmingham. Then you have to find a place to park, find enough change to put in the parking meter. In the end it can work out cheaper.

When I find gainful employment, I will definitely be driving. Less time to walk from the station to your destination.

Please don’t fill the waste bin to the lid, because you are too lazy to change the bag, when it comes to bag changing time, the bag rips because it is too full, so the bags I have bought, I have to use an extra one to contain the ripped bag.

Modern food cans can be re-cycled so please do not put them in the waste bin, so the above doesn’t happen.

When the washing up liquid dispensing brush is empty please refill it with washing up liquid, it only takes 2 seconds.

Do not spend all day in the kitchen tidying up when others want to use the kitchen, some of us are capable of cleaning up after ourselves.

If you want to fry allsorts of crap in the fryer and the oil eventually resembles what has come out of a car, put your hand in your pockets and take your turn to buy some new oil.

When you have finished using the toilet, put the seat and the lid down, again it only takes 2 seconds.

When you have finished in the bathroom, please leave the door open, so then I know that there is no one in there, saves on guess work.

Please turn the landing light off when you have finished, the light streaming through the cracks in my door doesn’t help me to sleep.

Do not have telephone arguments at 1 am. Have them at the time normal people have them.

Please don’t hog the internet bandwidth especially when I’m trying to work, granted I shouldn’t really be using a residential connection to do my work, but then again, what choice do I have.

If you are going to invite your friends round, please give advanced warning and at least introduce them to me, so I can give them a friendly hello the next time they come to visit.

It’s been all quiet on the blogging front again as I’ve been focusing on getting one of my sites up and running. Had a small hitch that I never foresaw, however that will soon be dealt with.

It is also my 3rd week at college, time seems to be flying past lately. Before we know it it will be October.

Autumn has now taken Summer’s place in the seasonal roster, so a bit more wind and rain to come in the lead up to Winter.

Here’s to a prosperous Autumn :D

I have heard a lot of people saying “I don’t like change, so I’m going to carry on doing things the way I’ve always done.”

Those who say that are in extreme danger of getting left behind. The forward thinkers, those who embrace change, you won’t be able to see them for a cloud of dust they’re off in the distance, they’re moving forward with their lives, many opportunities have arisen, because just once they said “Yes”.

I admit in the past I have said No to a good many things, I feel that’s what’s held me back over the years, too many times I have taken the easy option and said No. I have started to say yes to a few more things and that opened my eyes and I see more and more opportunities to do things. Especially with the social media scene. I have embraced it.

I’ve just started putting adverts on my blog to try and make some money. I have balked at the idea because I was worried about what people might think. Now I’m concentrating on the content to convert those clicks.

My adsense experiment started last week, I haven’t earned any money yet because I don’t think I’ve chosen the ideal size and type of advert, again fear of what people may think. So I’ll be experimenting with a few more ad formats later on today.

Don’t fear change, embrace it!!

This post is inspired by this tweet from Philip Schofield (@Schofe) http://twitter.com/Schofe/statuses/3802700032

Is anyone else fascinated by the patterns in a broken window?  I can just gaze for a while, it gives me a chance to empty my mind of all heavy thoughts and re-energises me.

What do you like to look at when you’re re-booting your mind?

Do you always find yourself thinking “there’s just not enough hours in the day”?

There is a simple way to get around this, try not to cram everything into a single day. If you still have emails left to read, tasks still left on your to do list, unless they’re really high priority, carry them over to the next day. Sure it’ll mess with your daily routine, but hey, a break from routine refreshes you.

I’m not going to go into the “ruts in your brain” stuff that plenty of others come out with. Do away with the daily routine, I do, sometimes. Sure I have an idea what I’m going to do that day, but I try to mix it up, do things out of “order”. Or I just don’t do something that day.

Take today as an example, I cannot even remember if I’ve even been on twitter today. I try not to think whether I’ve done things, I just let information flow into my brain and let my brain automatically store stuff away until I need it. Trying to force yourself to remember things, in my humble opinion is harmful to your health. When I try and force myself to remember things I start to get a headache.

So just sit back and soak up information like a sponge. There’s no need to race around like a headless chicken, wondering which direction you’re going to turn in next.

Work smarter not harder. Don’t sweat the little things in life, they’ll take care of themselves.

Yes August is upon us, the eighth month of the year. 2009 has been going along at a brisk old pace.

I’m sat here wondering what August will bring.

What are your plans for this month?

July 2009 is coming to a close, the country is still in the grips of a recession that shows no sign of coming to end, there are some encouraging signs though esepcially where the housing market is concerned.

We endured the deaths of much loved, iconic people, Farah Fawcett, Walter Cronkite and Michael Jackson.

We’ve celebrated 40 years since Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon.

We buried more of our brave soldiers, some that have died too young.

After months of foreplay Microsoft and Yahoo finally got down and dirty between the sheets.

Biz Stone got the paint out and revamped the Twitter homepage, turning it into a real time search engine.

Yet another team pulled out of Formula 1. BMW rethinking it’s motorsport activities.

Michael Shumacher the F1 legend will return to the F1 circus, once more turning a wheel in anger to help out Ferrari, whilst Felipe Massa recovers.

It’s been a busy old month. Let’s see what August brings.
