Just had a quick read through of this article on the BBC website:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10514367.stm

It may be narrow minded of me to focus on just one part of the article:

By the end of May there were over 53,000 downloads of the Jobcentre Plus app, although critics have asked why someone who can afford both an iPhone and the expensive running costs would need a Jobcentre Plus app.

In the critics effort to bash any government that is in power without any rational thinking. Ever thought that not everyone that happens to download and use  this particular app is unemployed? Or lets not forget that the users of this app may have just been made redundant?

So please when you are going to criticise someone or something, don’t look like  idiots in the process think about the bigger picture as to why someone would be doing something.

  1. I'm sure you're right that not every one who downloaded it is a freeloading scumbag with the work ethic of a wet lettuce, but I bet some of them are.

  2. I agree that not everyone has a great work ethic, however critics never seem to see the bigger picture, only what seems to fit in with their opinion. I've been unemployed for nearly 18 months now, interspersed with some temp work.

Finding a job can be a nightmare, if somehow I had an iPhone (never owned one), I would still purchase the job centre app.

  3. It's a shame that people like you are tarred with the same brush as those who use their housing benefit to pay for their iPhone and beer. Unfortunately, the press are not interested in people who are struggling to find work because that means we have to “feel sorry” for others (whether wanted or not). What sells papers is not sympathy and guilt, it's outrage and indignation.

Best of luck finding work. It can't be a good place to be.
