What’s actually in a job title? In my opinion not a lot, it’s just a fancy title, it doesn’t really tell anyone what you do on a day to day basis.

Let’s just strip away the peel of the orange and take a look inside, the real juicy stuff is there, not the peel or pith that the job title generates.

For example when I see the job title “Finance Director” I just get the opinion that the person plays with numbers all day. What I don’t see is the precarious balancing act that the job entails to ensure that the business doesn’t go down the tubes because someone has made the decision to try and buy something that the company doesn’t really need or can ill-afford.

I like to see what people do on a day to day basis, I love reading “A Day in the life of XYZ” posts, it’s fascinating to see a snapshot of a single day.

That impresses me far more than a fancy job title. A job title just tells me where on the corporate ladder you are, doesn’t tell me whether you’re actually any good at your job or what you do from day to day.

So this is the “Supreme Overlord of the Wizzard’s Blog Empire” signing off.
